Homemade Stainless Steel Cleaner
Looking to buy a stainless steel cleaner? Most of them are pricey and do not even get the job done. Skip the store trip and let us help you with our affordable homemade cleaner.
It is easy to make and you might have all the ingredients needed right there in your kitchen.
Here is what we need:
Two spray bottle
Soft cleaning cloth or paper towel
Fill a spray bottle with undiluted white vinegar, the other bottle you can fill it up with water.
Then spray all of your stainless steel surfaces, and wipe them dry with the cloth or paper towel.
Tip: it is best to wipe with the direction of the grain and to use a gentle touch.
The vinegar will sanitize and cut through the grease and grime making the whole process easier.
Once you're satisfied that all of the fingerprints and grime have been removed, go over the surface again with a water-dampened cloth. Here is where you can use the extra spray bottle filled with water. This extra step is to ensure that the acid in the vinegar has been removed, so there's no chance of it interacting with the metal over time. Stainless steel is naturally resistant to corrosion, so this is really just an added precaution.
Do not worry about the smell. It will fade away quickly!
Here are some benefits of using vinegar instead of store-bought products:
Vinegar contains a mild acid, called acetic acid. It cuts through the oil left behind by fingers, rather than smearing it around like a lot of other cleaners.
Vinegar is inexpensive and contains no harsh chemicals as many commercial cleaners do. Other benefits of using vinegar as a stainless steel cleaner as well as for other cleaning uses include that it's:
An effective sanitizer
An effective grease cutter
One more thing, since you already know what vinegar is you will not be afraid of using it around your house. It is safe for your family and pets!
